In April of 2015, almost seventeen months after Troop TX-0098 switched over from the previous organization to Trail Life USA, some of us took part in a very cool service project and conference.
The “Restoring All Things” conference was at The Hills Church in DFW, featuring speakers such as Rick Warren, Ed Stetzer, and Trail Life USA’s CEO, Mark Hancock! We were given the opportunity to help by filling bags that would be handed out to attendees, running a vendor table to answer questions about Trail Life, and doing some door greeting/ushering.
We had a great time of fellowship while stuffing the bags. It’s hard to even consider it serving when you get to hang out with your friends and work for something you believe in. Not to mention, they fed us pizza for taking care of the bags. Hard to beat right there!
Once the bags were ready to hand out and our bellies were full, we headed out to greet people coming in, help people find seats, and keep people in the proper areas.
During this time, Kyle and I met Mark Hancock for the first time! We were pretty excited by that. Kyle talked about it for weeks, even though it was a very brief encounter.
We were able to sit through part of the speaking, but for the most part, we were working.
Then we spent some time answering questions and telling people about Trail Life, which is always exciting, because we can speak passionately and from a depth of personal experience.
I have fond memories of that event spent sharing about Trail Life, hanging out with old friends, making new ones, and attending a great conference!
Anyone else out there attend one of the “Restoring All Things” conferences?
